(UNEDITED)You cannot be my disciple unless you hate your father, mother, husband,wife, brothers, sisters, and children. Strong language. Language that generally contradicts many of the other words of Jesus. Language that is more like a riddle than anything.

Loving God and Father, we long for you
We long for deeper meaning in our lives,
For a wider love than we now experience.
We yearn to know we belong
And are connected to you and all creation.
Yet time seems to slip from our grasp
Welcome Weekend at Butler
From Lord of the Rings:
The road goes ever on and one
Down from the door where it began
Now far head the Road has Gone
And I must follow if I can,
Pursuing it with weary feet,
Until it joins some larger way,
Where many paths and errands meet
